About the Artist

Hello, I'm Jewel.

Jewel Mason is a mixed media artist and art educator based in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of West Georgia and will receive her Master of Arts in Teaching from Piedmont University in July 2026. Alongside her studio practice, Mason works as an elementary school art teacher, fostering an environment where students are encouraged to experiment with materials, think creatively, and develop their own artistic voices. Her experiences in the classroom continually inspire her belief in the value of self-expression, and lifelong learning through the arts. For the past seven years, Mason has developed a multidisciplinary practice centered on experimentation with materials and process. Her work combines painting, collage, fabric, and found materials, often incorporating oil and acrylic media to create richly layered surfaces. Through texture, color, and material exploration, she investigates themes of growth, identity, memory, and her Black identity. Her work has been exhibited at venues including the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, Carrollton Arts Center, Pancakes & Booze Art Show, and numerous juried exhibitions throughout Georgia. In addition to her exhibition experience, Mason has completed professional and commissioned work for organizations such as Spelman College, Grady Hospital, the University of West Georgia, Corner Cafe, and a variety of private collectors and clients. Through both her teaching and artistic practice, Mason remains committed to creative exploration and the belief that art has the power to connect people.
